Project Overview

Frost Group provides on-site aggregate crushing, screening, and material handling for BW Gold Ltd. at the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia. The work supports construction filter-material supply for the tailings storage facility (TSF), together with engineered fill, road-surfacing aggregate, and other screened products.

Crews coordinate crusher feeding, crushing and screening, stockpiling, plant maintenance, and daily production reporting across large and small crushing spreads. Day and night operations support multiple aggregate products within designated mine working areas.

The supply program combines aggregate production with the equipment, material handling, and field reporting required to operate the crushing spreads.

Crushing, Screening & Material Handling

  • Mobile crushing and screening plant operation
  • Feed handling and loading of the crushing equipment
  • Zone F filter sand and Zone T transition gravel production
  • Zone E engineered fill, road aggregate, stemming, and screened products
  • Product stockpiling, rehandling, and loading within the production areas

Field Operations & Reporting

  • Day- and night-shift operating crews and supervision
  • Plant inspections, equipment maintenance, and mechanical support
  • Material testing, quality reporting, and production tracking
  • Work-area safety, environmental controls, and coordination with mine personnel

The crushing program uses mobile plant supported by excavators, loaders, screening equipment, and conveyors. The service scope includes operation and maintenance of the plant, feed handling, production of specified material sizes, and management of the resulting stockpiles.

Excavators and loaders support feed handling and stockpile operations, while screens and conveyors separate and move the processed materials. Operating crews coordinate production with plant inspections, servicing, and changes to the material being processed.

Zone F filter sand and Zone T transition gravel form the core filter-material products within the supply program. The project specifications identify these materials for the filter and transition zones of the mine’s tailings dam, with production from the Esker source and local stockpiling before onward handling by BW Gold.

Recorded output for the 2026 reporting period includes 136,984 tonnes of Zone F and 161,673 tonnes of Zone T. Each material has its own grading requirements within the supply scope, supporting the different functions of the filter and transition zones.

The recorded product mix also includes 175,369 tonnes of Zone E engineered fill and 75,669 tonnes of Zone WC wearing course. Other products include road base, road-cap material, stemming, sand, and screened stone, alongside the filter and transition materials.

This broader product mix extends the operation beyond filter-material supply to aggregates supporting road construction, road maintenance, and other mine infrastructure requirements.

Frost Group’s material-handling responsibilities include stockpiling, loading, and movement within the designated production areas. The service requirements provide for coordination of stockpile locations, access, material availability, and delivery arrangements with the mine’s representatives.

For the main filter, transition, engineered-fill, and wearing-course products, Frost Group’s scope centres on local production and stockpiling.

The quality framework includes regular material testing, reporting against the specified grading requirements, and access for independent verification. Material testing and quality reporting form a distinct part of the supply operation alongside crushing and stockpile management.

Daily production reporting captures output by material, shift, and crushing spread, together with operating hours and downtime information. Separate test records identify samples and quality status, supporting production review and communication with the mine’s team.

Day and night operations are supported by plant inspections, maintenance, and mechanical resources. Field support includes equipment servicing, conveyor and screen work, crusher relocations, and response to winter operating conditions such as freezing and material blockages.

Safety and environmental requirements form part of the operating scope, including equipment safeguards, dust management, fuel and spill controls, and coordination with other mine activities.

The Blackwater Mine aggregate program demonstrates Frost Group’s ability to combine mobile crushing and screening, material handling, equipment support, and production reporting within a mine operating environment.

The work brings together dedicated crushing crews and a range of filter, transition, engineered-fill, and road-surfacing products under a coordinated aggregate supply operation.
